Pictured above is Katie Gibbs testing out trail accessibility

Life long valley resident, Kate Gibbs, has been out and about on the trail lately. Kate was born with cerebral palsy, and has been using an electric wheel chair for 10 years now. Along with Cassy Campbell, Kate started an organization called Access the Valley, which helps make life easier and more accessible for others like herself. Kate loves to go out with family and friends on the Westside Legacy Trail.

“I love going on the trail because it feels like you’re away from the hustle and bustle of town. I love going through the forest on trails such as this one, and before the Legacy trail, we didn’t really have a trail where I could do that! It is a good place to go with friends for a good walk and chat. I love that I can make it around the whole way! Greenways is making an amazing effort to make the Legacy Trail accessible! I’m so impressed!!”

Thank you, Kate, for all the work you do for accessibility throughout the Columbia Valley. We really are proud to provide a trail that is for everyone!
