Introducing Our Two Trail Ambassadors
Greenways would like to introduce our two young and ambitious Trail Ambassadors for the summer, thanks to Provincial and Federal grants. Tryg Strand and Katie Watt both hail from the Columbia Valley and are excited to help you get out on the trail and help create an even better experience for all trail users! Tryg and Katie will provide 7 day a week coverage on the trail, as well attending the downtown Farmers Markets to invite people out on the trail.
Looking for a trail tour via run, walk, or bike this summer? Katie and Tryg would love to show you the trail and all it has to offer! You can contact us at tryg.strand@greenways.ca or katie.watt@greenways.ca
Trail Ambassador Katie Watt
Katie is graduating from grade 12 student at David Thompson Secondary School this month end and was born and raised in the Columbia Valley. “If there is one lesson that I’ve extracted from my 18 years of living here, growing up surrounded by a strong community, and in a place where the border between home and forest is imperceptible, it’s that it does not matter what you do in life, but who you do it with.” Katie is enthused to join the Westside Legacy Trail team to help grow the roots of our community, and to meet those who are visiting or are currently residents of the Valley. “To this position I will bring my interests in the arts, my knowledge about the natural aspects of the valley, and my own experience growing up in the area.”
I hope to see you on the trail this summer!
Trail Ambassador Tryg Strand
Tryg recently graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and is thrilled to be back in the valley for the summer to have the opportunity to help increase the usage of the trail, and to add to its overall experience. “I have been so fortunate to have grown up in Invermere, and to have been able to enjoy all the wonderful amenities it has to offer. As a young kid, I ran on the shoulder of Westside road countless times training for cross-country and track events. So, to see a proper and safe trail come to fruition and the ability work on it, gives me a proud and nostalgic feeling.”
