Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from everyone at the Markin-MacPhail Westside Legacy Trail team!
2019 has been an amazing year for the Trail. Fundraising efforts have had great success, and because of that we’re excited to announce that the Markin-MacPhail Westside Legacy Trail is fully rideable, start to finish. The paving of the final stretch into Fairmont (approx 10km) will be finished in 2020.
We hope you take some time with your family this holiday season to enjoy the great outdoors, and spend some time on the Trail!
2019 Milsteones
- In July 2019 the total length of paved trail was increased from 10 km to 16 km with the paving of Segment 5.
- Segment 6 & Segment 7 are cleared and gravelled, and in November 2019 the entire trail was rideable from end to end, connecting Fairmont Hot Springs to Invermere.
- Paving of the final 10 KM is planned for summer 2020.
- Included in the 2020 construction season plan is a new loop at approx the 7km mark which will replace the short section of trail that runs along the shoulder of Westside Road. The new loop will add approximately 1KM of trail, adding to the safety and beauty of the Trail.
