Hiring: Maestro of Events & Volunteer Champion

Thank you to everyone who applied, we look forward to making a (very difficult!) selection shortly.[/alert] [lead]The Columbia Valley Greenways Trail Alliance is recruiting for a Maestro of Events & Volunteer Champion. The CVGTA, a registered charity, is building the Westside Legacy Trail – a world-class recreational asset for the Columbia Valley. We require a contract Maestro of Events & Volunteer Champion to work with the Executive Director, Fundraising Committee, and the Volunteer Board. Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):[/lead]
  1. Lead the coordination/organization of various fundraising events;
  2. Working in a team environment to coordinate activities of volunteers and partners to successfully execute all aspects of fundraising events;
  3. Assisting with researching and liaising with outside event suppliers and venues;
  4. Working with the Social Media & Website Guru to support social media for volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and event awareness.

The Ideal candidate:

  • Has experience in event management and fundraising;
  • Is passionate about the many benefits the Westside Legacy Trail will provide for the Columbia Valley;
  • Is a strategic thinker with the ability to sell ideas and influence/inspire others (members of the public, volunteers and donors);
  • Is a team player who can work collaboratively with all levels of volunteers, staff, and the general public;
  • Has their own technology and the ability to be self-sufficient and adaptable to whatever changes.

Position Qualifications:

  • Experience in coaching and leading teams of volunteers;
  • Experience creating and working within a budget;
  • Experience working with computerized software, including various MS Office suite;
  • General social media literacy (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Google+ etc.);
  • Strong oral and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently (with minimal supervision);
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.

*Preference will be given to candidates who possess a Bachelors degree in a field relevant to the position (marketing, public relations, communications etc.)
