VOLUNTEERS DO THE DIRTY WORK!
Three weeks ago, a group of volunteers from Rushmere sprang into action and installed decking on the Brady Creek bridge. When word spread that they had donated their time, skills and even purchased the lumber, a different group of volunteers came together to help out finishing the trail edging.
On Friday, July 13th, they assembled to cut away the exposed root barrier (installed prior to paving to prevent tree roots, weeds and grass from growing through the pavement). In the sweltering heat (pictured above), Marcel Labrie and Blaine Nester helped progress the trail by doing some dirty work.
Not in the picture was Dave Galbrith who also lent a helping hand.
The Westside Legacy Trail is special and unlike any other project because of acts like this; the dedication and determination from volunteers such as these show the strength of the community that has been built around the Trail.
